Celebrity Twitters, are they that important?

dailystab.com
Twitter.
140 characters of random rambles.
i find it so self-absorbed, but i can see why people will want to know every thought process of.. say ashton kutcher or lady gaga.
well, apparently LAPD thought so too.
LAPD wants to recruit celebrities who have large following on their twitter account to twit about LA's traffic woes to alert people to stay home.
and so far no celebrities have signed on.
DUHH!
who does not have internet, iPhone's map with real time traffic info, TV, or common sense to avoid traffic this 4th of july weekend??
and hey! if  my fellow angelenos want to put themselves through the horrific LA traffic this weekend?
then it's their calling.
we most certainly do not need kim kardashian twitting off traffic alerts at our forehead every hour this weekend.

Cameron, Katie, Jessica + menswear inspired outfits = Disaster..?

what is going on with these ladies, Katie Holmes, Jessica Biel, and Cameron Diaz?
and why are they shoving menswear inspired looks down our throat?
fyi: the look in general is hard to pull off and don't even bother unless you had your outfit altered to your body.

 WireImage.com - June 15, 2011

KH: she has started to show some odd aging ability. did you know she is only 32?
granted, she does not look half bad in the picture above, but most of the times?
she looks at least a decade older than her actual age.
anyway, for someone who has a very expensive clothing line, holmes & yang, she rarely looks stylish in her own clothes. (if she ever wears them out. what does that say about her clothing line?)
pictured, she is sporting a trendy menswear inspired look, but the fit is off and it does not flatter her shape.
she used to be a decent actress before she married tom cruise.
i wish to see her in more intriguing roles on the screen, and not so much on the random red carpet events or out and about looking raggedy.

Splash News - May 23, 2011

JB: i just do not see what is the big deal with this lady.
she rarely seems good looking when she is out and about.
she has not done anything half decent since her departure from 7th Heaven.
only noteworthy movie i can recall was The Illusionist, but i felt it was more of a Edward Norton movie.
all i know her are as a girl friend to Justin Timberlake and that girl from the Revlon commercial.
pictured, Jessica is also sporting a menswear inspired outfit to stay trendy, but fails miserably with odd colored velvet ensemble.
in the future, i wish to get to know her more as a promising actress and not as an arm candy to some man, or a pretty face in a forgettable commercial.
if she cannot pull out her acting chops?
i am fine to never hear about her again.
after all, this is hollywood, and if you do not have the talent?
then get out because you are just another pretty face wasting out time.

GettyImages.com - June 13, 2011

CD: another one from Jus -Timberlake's roaster of ex-girl friends.
i actually used to really like her.
good comedic timing,  bubbly personality, and that infectious laughter.
mostly, i thought she was magnetic.
she even looked pretty good in Charlie's Angels.
since then?
i just cannot figure out what it is! she also shows an extraordinary ability to age.
it is not that she is an unattractive lady.
she does not seem to age as well as some of her peers.
pictured, she is also wearing semi menswear inspired outfit, which i think is heinous.
none of those items go well together, although they will all look great separately in different outfits.
i do hope her new movie Bad Teacher is not just plain 'bad'.
sadly, i feel that it will never be as good as her comedic movies from the late 90's and that is why i will not be going to the theaters to watch this movie.
but.. hey, at least she is in a widely marketed movie this year, right?
that is way more than the other two 'actresses' shown above can say about themselves.

Jail = Painless

Man robs bank to get medical care in jail

i believe that is the face of a genius: Mr. James Richard Verone
what did he do when life gave him lemon?
he decided to rob a bank for $1 so he can get all the medical care he needs.
he made lemonade out of life's crap full of lemons.

"He's already seen some nurses and is scheduled to see a doctor on Friday. He said he's hoping to receive back and foot surgery, and get the protrusion on his chest treated. Then he plans to spend a few years in jail, before getting out in time to collect Social Security and move to the beach."
by the looks of his neck, he seems like he might also have thyroid issue.

U.S., one of the most powerful country in the world,
and its citizens have to resort to jail time so they can get proper medical treatments.
what is wrong with this picture here?

"The Affordable Care Act, President Obama's health-care overhaul passed by Congress last year, was designed to make it easier for Americans in situations like Verone's to get health insurance. But most of its provisions don't go into effect until 2014."

i wish Mr. Verone will receive all the care he needs.
hey, we gotta give him credit for his clever and creative way to receive what he truly needs, right?

obsession Part II: So You Think You Can Dance

pls start at 1:37 and enjoy

SYTYCD : So You Think You Can Dance is back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

tonight, i absolutely fell in love with this performance by Melanie and Marko.
dance was chreographed by Travis Wall.
"Turn to Stone" by Ingrid Michelson.
at the end of the performance, i had a few drops of tears around my eyes and could not believe what i just watched!
such an amazing performance to be graced in our presence so early on in the season!

just like Mary Murphy mentioned, sometimes a couple of amazing dancers are grouped with a great chreographer, perfect song and everything in the universe just collide in the most magical way.

i actually loved Malanie throughout the auditions week, and am so glad that she is getting noticed early on in the season.

Here are some must watch from past seasons:

Melissa and Ade - This woman's work  :  by far one of the best performance i've seen from this show

Alex - Hallelujah  : God, this guy alex wong was so good.

Alex and Twitch hip hop

Robert and Allison - Fix You

Ellenore and Jakob - Tore my heart

Kayla and Kupono - Gravity

there are so much more!!

anyway, i am so amped up!
there are so many amazing talents this season!!

oh, fashion, how cruel you can be..

what exactly is going on here?
it pains me to see that these gorgeous ladies decided to step out in public, let alone red carpet and step & repeat, with these outfits on.
the worst part of this?
most of the pieces worn by these ladies are supposed to be what's trendy right now.

-the leopard print
-harem pants  ( i cannot wait for this fugly fad to go away. it does NOT flatter any body type!)
-bucket bag
-nude wedge
-bright color
-statement ring
-full volume skirts
-sky high heels

how does your outfit consist of 90% average of 'fashionable' pieces and look this atrocious?
are their stylists at fault?
did these ladies look at the mirror before stepping out and think they were stylish?
or is 'fashion industry' at fault for pumping out clothes without much thoughts or innovation?

AP Photo/Jessie L. Bonner
women are willingly putting fish bait in their hair.
what is happening here?
they can wash, dry, or even curl them.
it's so popular that a box of these fish baits sold for $480 so women can attach these rooster feathers in their hair.
alternative to adding them as hair extensions are wearing them as earrings.
are they planning to go fishing with their head dunked in water?

i am utterly confused and dumb founded.

some things should never make a fashion comeback.
-acid washed jeans.  it was awful in the 80's and it is still awful.
-extremely long nails.  just tacky.
-harem pants.  because it looks horrible on everyone. yes, you J-LO. a repeat offender.
-gigantic shoulder pads the size of someone's foot.  'strong shoulder' look should look like an extension of one's own shoulders. not so exaggerated to an extent your head doesn't look like it belongs to its shoulder.
-feathers in women's hair.   why? still cannot fathom this fad.

of course, there are many more but i feel overwhelmed to think about all of them.
i should scroll over to Céline and give my eyes a much needed beauty rest.

Summer 2011 Movie Releases.. the good and the UGLY

Universal Pictures (THE GOOD)
Warner Bros. (THE FUGLY...?)

film industry have not been impressing me for some time now.
every month i find myself yearning for something that makes me excited to go to a theater and spend more than $30 to sit through a 2 hr film.
let's be honest, $16 for a ticket, $10 for drink and snack, $2-5 for parking ticket...
it takes a lot now for me to actually watch anything at a movie theater, which is quite sad as i love the whole experience of it all.
so... here is my breakdown on summer 2011 big movie releases Part I.

Friday, May 6
  • Jumping the Broom  :  maybe Netflix?
  • Something Borrowed  :  looked cute. missed it. will Netflix if i remember.
  • Thor  heard a lot of mixed reviews. Nat Portman seemed like a mis-cast. Netflix for sure.
Friday, May 13
  • Bridesmaids  :  LOVE. a MUST watch this summer. i loved Rose Byrne.
  • Priest  :  no thoughts....

Friday, May 20

Thursday, May 26

Friday, June 3

  • X-Men: First Class  :  heard it got decent reviews. do not know why, i just cannot seem to warm up to this film. should i go watch it?

Friday, June 10

  • Super 8  :  saw it. i thought it was.. good..? had good moments. not sure if i feel comfortable recommending it to others only because it was not what i expected. hidden-plot-mysterious trailers led me to expect more action. elle fanning was superb. think "ET" in modern day version.

Friday, June 17

  • Green Lantern  :  it looks AWFUL. who thought Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively were a good cast? R-Reynolds in the trailer looks more like a character in a SNL clip making fun of the movie than a hero from a huge blockbuster. well, until i hear any reviews from friends, i will not go to a theater to watch this movie. actually, i am definitely on the Netflix band wagon for this one.

Friday, June 24

  • Bad Teacher  :  looks decent. have not cared too much for Cam-Diaz for awhile now. and it will take much more for me to see her film. even with added bonus, Just-Timberlake. will Netflix.
  • Cars 2  :  ......................

Wednesday, June 29

  • Transformers: Dark of the Moon  :  i love action movies. i LOVE action movies by Michael Bay. i liked the past 2 movies from this franchise. so why in the hell am i so torn?? maybe it's the inability of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's acting chops. could this be a bigger mistake than M-Fox?  i am torn in the middle on this one. i will see the movie in theaters since Michael Bay films are better on bigger screen, just hopping Miss Rosie's role is a small one in the film.

Why are we obsessed with the Kardashian family??

'Who The Hell Is Kim Kardashian?' asks Edie Falco

Funny how many different minds tend to think alike.
Even funnier when various celebrities are thinking and speaking out about the same exact thought that strikes your mind one lazy afternoon.

I'm sure most of everyone in the world know by now of the engagement story (more like the breakout headlining news) about Ms. Kim Kardashian and Mr. Kris Humphries.
whether you wanted to know by choice about their short courting period,
or that this kid who made $3.2 M salary last year was somehow able to afford a $2 million dollar ring to put on that extremely manicured finger,
their pre-nup agreements,
and stories about supposed cheating already after only a month since the engagement news hit the stands..

it does not matter if you wanted to be privy of so much information about Ms. Kim Kardashian.
why?
because the clan that is the Kardashian juggernaut will make sure you hear about it.
just like they will also make sure they were paid for it.

try flipping through E! channel any day of the week, you will most definitely land on a show that has to do with at least one of the Kardashians.
every once in a blue moon when there are absolutely nothing to watch, i will leave the tv on and i catch myself zoning into their show like some mindless drone.
after the show ends, i feel so empty.
why do people find this entertaining??
-they wake up face full of make up, hair that does not move a strand, i feel like they are wearing a helmet!
-go to work at Dash.  seriously?  they own boutiques and yet they do not seem to have much fashion sense.
-random banters.
-some more random banters.
-appearances from all of the sisters' man of the moment.
-and then of course the rest of the family.

but really... what are we getting out of the show as the viewers?

Keeping Up with the Kardashians show was apparently successful enough to have lasted since 2007 and spawned 2 spin-off shows.
after digging deeper to understand this odd fame, here is what i found.
(and please correct me if i'm wrong)

Kim Kardashian
-born October 21, 1980
-daughter of late attorney Robert Kardashian (he was worth about $30 Mil when he passed)
-10 siblings. 10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! just imagine, as one of them gets older, they'll just keep replacing with a younger version of themselves!
-married 2000-2004
-made sex tape with Ray J in 2007 and received $5 Mil from Vivid. rose to fame!
-dated Reggie Bush afterwards. and string of random men followed.
-starred in a few tv shows as herself. beside from playing herself on one of K-fam reality series.
-starred in a few movies. horrible... just horrible ones..
-apparently recorded a single.
-boutique Dash owner.

if you want to know more, here you go : Kim Kardashian
i am just not impressed.
what has she accomplished in her 30 years of life that makes her opinions matter so much?
don't you dare tell me you are a hard working woman because you created your boutiques, perfume line, and shoe selling website.
all of that happened because you made a sex tape which you were handsomely paid off,
did a reality tv series about absolutely nothing,
and now you are shoving down all these products down our throats.

i must admit the woman did make lemonade out of otherwise quite devastating experience in a woman's life, like a sex tape.
also she does seem like a genuinely nice person.
but c'mon..
that whole family made a lemonade churning factory out of that and they probably never have to worry about something called money when rest of the America is barely scrapping by.

Why are we obsessed with the Kardashian family??
who knows..
obviously Edie Falco and Reese Witherspoon are wondering the same thing.
maybe it's all that make up, maybe it's Scott, maybe it's the mom who seems more like their pimp, maybe it's the K's in their names..
all i can say is, i am so SO over it.
they are everywhere and i am tired of the fad.
just like i got tired of her friend Paris Hilton years ago.

Steve Jobs wants to build a gigantic Spaceship in California

Image: Screenshot

Steve Jobs wants to build a newer, bigger, more eco-friendly (so he says), spaceship looking campus and wants to move Apple crew in there by 2015.
he was pitching the idea to Cupertino city council to get approval to do this.
Council asked Steve Jobs if he plans to give the entire city free wi-fi.
seriously??
he answered that 'threat' with another 'threat' by saying ""We're the largest taxpayers in Cupertino, so we'd like to continue to stay here and pay taxes."
Boom!! yea he said it!
i say let him do it as long as the actual construction does not harm the environment.
there is never a good reason to infuriate Steve Jobs, is there?
just sayin'.

MTV Movie Awards : 6.5.2011

MTV Movie Awards 2011, which aired June 5, 2011 9/8 C were....
well, here goes my Social Club ranting.*

mtv.com **
Ah, Ms. Gomez. she is actually one of the tween set actresses that i think seems quite lovely that are on air now-a-days. No reports on drinking binges, no clips of the girl smoking it up in a huge bong, no rehab stints, etc...  So when the host of the night, Jason Sudeikis, poked fun at her relationship with tween set king, Justin Beiber, by saying "She's already swallowed three of his baby teeth," about how much Selena has been spotted making out with her younger beau, i thought it was quite charming she was so embarrassed to be pointed out. She could not even lift her head to the camera for a good 20 seconds!
Awwwwwwwwwww, how cute!!

Access Hollywood
But then again, this does NOT seem like a innocent little peck between two 17 and 18 years old high school kids, does it..  safety is first, kids!

 mtv.com
Reese Witherspoon!!!!! i love you. she won MTV Generations Awards. she deserves it.
honestly, did not like the way she looked during the ceremony though. she somehow managed to look weathered which i thought was an impossibility with her.
who did her hair and makeup???

 mtv.com
speeking of Reese Witherspoon and her acceptance speech for the Generations Award..
she mentioned, "You Can Make it in Hollywood Without a Reality Show or Sex Tape Scandal" or nude photos, obviously dissing Paris Hilton, the Kardashi-nutz, and little Ms. Blake Lively.***
thought it was awesome that she called them out. Preach on, Reese!

 mtv.com
Ahh, i love Emma Stone. love her even more because she went back to being red head!
she won Best Comedic Performance for per role in Easy A.
did i think she deserved it for her role in Easy A? No.
but everyone else on the nominees list for the award was just not impressive either.
was i happy to see her win? heck yea, i think she is an awesome actress who will go a long way!

 mtv.com
Tom Felton from "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 won Best Villian Award.
all i say about that is, doesn't he have a striking image of Ryan Gosling as he gets older???
just look at the picture of the original Ryan Gosling picture above!

mtv.com
Gary Busey!!!!
came out to hand out the award for Best Movie Award.
who cares which movie won?**** it's freakin' Gary Busey. rolling out in a freakin' plastic hamster ball!

*all in all, it was a boring show. just like the Cinema world right now. i am really crossing my fingers for 2012!

**i just love the facial expression on the girl sitting next to Selena! FAIL!

*** just in case you have not heard of Blake Lively's NudeGate.
also, did anyone else notice it was a rare glimpse of Boobs Legsly who resisted the temptation and actually covered up her boobs and her legs, both at the same time??  i'm sure it must have been painful for her to step out in public so covered, but i guess that's what you do when the whole world has seen you naked in every which way imaginable..

****ok ok, if you must know, it was one of the Twilight movies. whose keeping count? they win everything! MTV should just give R-Pattz, K-Stew and T-LNer a permanent couch on the stage so they don't have to keep walking up and down the aisle, clearly making H-Potter kids jealous.

did everyone watch the show?
if you did not, don't feel left out. you did not miss out on anything anyway.

6.02.2011

obsession Part I : REALity..............? TV

Associated Press
reality tv.
i LOVE me some reality tv.
i pretty much watch all types of reality tv available out there:
jersey crazies, america's-anything, million dollar-everything, all-things-related Food Network, etc....!
this list does not even begin to cover all the rest of the recorded repertoire happening on my recorder.
but my other biggest obsession with tv is short lived tv shows that could have been amazing.*
and of course real news about real celebrities.

so....
when i stumbled upon d!rt starring Courtney Cox on my Netflix, it was genuinely orgasmic and annoying at the same time.
for those of you who were unfortunate like i was to have discovered this gem of a show few years too late,  it was canceled right around the time when Writers Guild of America participated in a strike during 2007-2008. if i had discovered the show back then, i would have fought viciously for the return of this show.
anyway, Christopher Knight and Adrianne Curry starred as themselves on the show's season 1 episode 6 on  'The Secret Lives of Altar Girls'.
their arc on the show :
1) beg Courtney Cox's character (Editor of DrrtNow magazine) to do 'Exclusive' cover story that Adrianne gets caught in lesbian love affair with Chyna
2) then Christopher would accept and they would all move in together as 'thrupple'
3) when story dies down, Adrianne will get jealous and she gets thrown out.
4) Adrianne will have to win them back
5) and apparently they are flexible and they can work with the Editor on the cover story

yes... reality?
apparently.. not!

so this little shenanigan about them breaking up in real life?
i just do not know if i believe it to be true.
if it is, i sure hope they got PAID well for their story and wish these crazy kids good luck with all their future endeavors.

* oh, my love for short lived tv shows.. it will be a delicious discussion for later.
