Summer 2011 Movie Releases.. the good and the UGLY

Universal Pictures (THE GOOD)
Warner Bros. (THE FUGLY...?)

film industry have not been impressing me for some time now.
every month i find myself yearning for something that makes me excited to go to a theater and spend more than $30 to sit through a 2 hr film.
let's be honest, $16 for a ticket, $10 for drink and snack, $2-5 for parking ticket...
it takes a lot now for me to actually watch anything at a movie theater, which is quite sad as i love the whole experience of it all.
so... here is my breakdown on summer 2011 big movie releases Part I.

Friday, May 6
  • Jumping the Broom  :  maybe Netflix?
  • Something Borrowed  :  looked cute. missed it. will Netflix if i remember.
  • Thor  heard a lot of mixed reviews. Nat Portman seemed like a mis-cast. Netflix for sure.
Friday, May 13
  • Bridesmaids  :  LOVE. a MUST watch this summer. i loved Rose Byrne.
  • Priest  :  no thoughts....

Friday, June 3

  • X-Men: First Class  :  heard it got decent reviews. do not know why, i just cannot seem to warm up to this film. should i go watch it?

Friday, June 10

  • Super 8  :  saw it. i thought it was.. good..? had good moments. not sure if i feel comfortable recommending it to others only because it was not what i expected. hidden-plot-mysterious trailers led me to expect more action. elle fanning was superb. think "ET" in modern day version.

Friday, June 17

  • Green Lantern  :  it looks AWFUL. who thought Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively were a good cast? R-Reynolds in the trailer looks more like a character in a SNL clip making fun of the movie than a hero from a huge blockbuster. well, until i hear any reviews from friends, i will not go to a theater to watch this movie. actually, i am definitely on the Netflix band wagon for this one.

Friday, June 24

  • Bad Teacher  :  looks decent. have not cared too much for Cam-Diaz for awhile now. and it will take much more for me to see her film. even with added bonus, Just-Timberlake. will Netflix.
  • Cars 2  :  ......................

Wednesday, June 29

  • Transformers: Dark of the Moon  :  i love action movies. i LOVE action movies by Michael Bay. i liked the past 2 movies from this franchise. so why in the hell am i so torn?? maybe it's the inability of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's acting chops. could this be a bigger mistake than M-Fox?  i am torn in the middle on this one. i will see the movie in theaters since Michael Bay films are better on bigger screen, just hopping Miss Rosie's role is a small one in the film.
